Pulaski Track & Field Says Goodbye To A dear Coach, Friend, and throwing Legend

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our beloved throws coach, Jeff Braun.

Jeff was a 1975 graduate of Seymour High School, graduated from UW Madison, attending on an athletic scholarship for track and field, and attained his MS in Education from Cardinal Stritch University.

As a Badger, Jeff won a combined eight Big Ten Championships in the shot put and discus and four-time NCAA qualifier. In 1979, he attained All-American status when he set Big Ten indoor and outdoor meet records and UW indoor and outdoor school records in the shot. Jeff was the US National Indoor Champion in the shot put in 1982. Jeff also represented the USA in a dual meet against England, was selected to the Pan American Games team, and qualified for the 1980 Olympic Trials. After completing his eligibility, Jeff used his throwing knowledge and passion to become an assistant coach for the UW Track teams and coached three school record holders, three Big Ten champions, and one All-American in the throws.

In recognition of his accomplishments competing for and coaching at the school, Jeff was named to the 2020 Induction Class to the University of Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame.

One of his biggest joys was coaching and bringing out the best in all his athletes.  He will be missed dearly.

Transportation Waiver

PLEASE REMEMBER: If you are planning on leaving a meet early and will NOT be riding the bus, we must have a form in the office signed by the parent that releases you. It is never okay for an athlete to drive him or herself to and from events. Forms should be signed and submitted to the athletic office at least 24 hours in advance. Even if you are riding home with your own parents, you must have this paper signed. You can put all events on one sheet if need be.  Click HERE for the form.
